Yeah, you still have to pay a line rental to BT but think of the extra TV channels: TV Swede, News in Kernowek, Live premiership pasty baking, Clotted cream wrestling etc

What I don’t understand is why location makes a difference – I can get the best available speed – around 5mbs already Sky use the same copper wires don’t they – you have to continue to pay for bt line rental i think

Sorry to hear you live in the wrong area Pasty Muncher, for most people the upgrade from 2Mb free Sky Base to the 8Mb Sky Mid is only £5 a month. The BT Option 1 package appears to be £18 a month for basic broadband only, which is still not really expensive.

Hey I checked out the Sky offers at the moment but i was very disappointed that their package as you detail above added on and extra £17 per month for the Mid Broadband – it seems I live in the wrong area. So it seems there is little advantage in moving from my BT cheap broadband (Option 1) until the sky “network” is availbale and comes in at an affordable fiver a month (with tv extra)
